Leading the Industry in Research and Development
Today, with over 230 employees, backed by new-age infrastructure, we take pride in having one of the best R&D centres in the HVAC&R industry. Our R&D excellence is highlighted by 4 Innovation Centres dedicated to advanced technology research and innovation, focusing on energy efficiency and sustainability, with an in-house advanced testing laboratory capable of extensive testing and certification. We have filed over 45 patents, with more than 25 granted, showcasing our strong commitment to innovation and technology.

The Research and Development team at Blue Star is encouraged to stay abreast of the latest techniques and processes and to participate in and network at technical workshops around the globe. The Company partners with consultants who have valuable expertise and extensive experience in specialised fields such as ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVAC&R) solutions, on a global level.
Driving Research Initiatives
The Research and Development division has a metric structure, like esteemed centres worldwide. Research projects are undertaken on an ongoing basis to study and imbibe emerging technologies to prepare for future requirements. The main drivers of these projects are advanced technologies, regulatory requirements, differentiation, and the creation of unique value propositions aimed at increasing market share and profitability.
Advanced Testing and Labs
Significant investment has been made in building performance and reliability labs. Our chiller test labs are Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) certified, along with an accreditation from the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) for Room Air Conditioners, Ducted Systems and Commercial Refrigeration products. Reliability and electronics laboratories are equipped with facilities to verify safety compliance of the products.
Best-in-Class Infrastructure
Blue Star’s Research and Development features best-in-class infrastructure, including performance test laboratories, reliability testing facilities, an electronics laboratory, a design studio, and high-end workstations for CAD and analysis, among others. We have applied for 46 patents and hold 46 design registrations.
Commitment to Excellence
Blue Star’s Research and Development team excels in developing products at par with global standards, such as the VRF System, High-Efficiency Chillers, Wall-Mounted Units, and Eco-Friendly Refrigeration Products. We are focused on researching refrigerants with lower Global Warming Potential (GWP) for future adoption.
